Use 'A' and 'An'
निम्नलिखित वाक्य देखिए----1 This is a book.
2 That is a pen.
3 This is a cow.
4 That is a horse.
5 This is an egg.
6 That is an elephant.
7 This is an engine.
8 That is an umbrella.
9 My brother is an M.A.
10 That is a box.
याद रखिए--
A तथा An दोनों का अर्थ ' एक ' होता हैं।
An उन शब्दों के पहले आता है जिनकी आवाज किसी स्वर ( Vowel) से निकलती हो अर्थात अ, आ ,इ, ई , उ , ऊ, ए, ऐ, ओ , औ, ।
जैसे -- Egg, Elephant, Engine, Umbrella, Apple, Inkpot , Owl , M.A ।
जिन शब्दों की आवाज किसी व्यंजन ( Consonant ) से निकलती है , उसके पहले A आता है , जैसे -- Book, Pen , Box, Cow.
नियम- अतः' ' A ' या 'An' लगाने के लिए आवाज पर ध्यान देना चाहिए, इस बात पर नहीं कि वह शब्द किस अक्षर से शुरू हो रहा है। जिन शब्दों की आवाज अ, आ , इ, ई , उ , ऊ ,ए , ऐ , ओ , औ से शुरू हो रही हो उनके पहले ' An ' लगेगा। शेष सब आवाजों के पहले ' A ' लगेगा।

12 वह एक कुर्सी है।
