Write a short note on Feminist Criticism
Reading as a woman (and writing as a woman) and responding to the way women are presented in literature. In a world generally male dominated it has not been possible for a woman to read as a woman having been alienated from an experience appropriate to her condition as a woman.
As writers and critics women may present more authentically their ideas on female creativity, the problems of a female language feminist criticism may be concerned with 'women as the producer of textual meanings with the history, themes, genres and structures of literature by women.'
In the modern age, women critics too have tried their hands at criticism. Some of them have created a new trend called "feminism". It broadly means reading and writing as a woman. It also means responding to the way women are presented in literature. Feminist Criticism may be concerned with "woman as the producer of textual meanings with the history, themes and structures by women critics like Elaine Show walter and Juliet Mitchell can be given as examples of the feminist critics.
