Write a note on Structuralism and Semiology

Secondly, in so far as social and cultural phenomena including literature have meaning and they are signs.

There are differences between structuralism and semiology too. Structuralism studies the structure or systems of relations, by which cultural objects are defined and distinguished from one another. Semiology studies cultural objects as signs which carry meanings. However, according to Culler, these two enterprises should not be distinguished. This is because they are closely related to each other. They entail each other where a profitable study of literature is concerned.
