Discuss the thought content in Donne's " The Sun Rising ".
The poet is angry with the sun at tis peeping at him and his beloved through the window and the curtains. For lovers are not bothered by dawn, daybreak, morning, noon, afternoons, evening, night, etc. if the sun wants to rouse the poet, it is unnecessary. For it had better wake up the schoolboys who are late, the apprentices who are sour, the court huntsmen, or the peasants. If should remember that love is not subject to the laws of time and space.
The sun is supposed to be the king of day. So its beams are reverend as well as strong. The poet says that he can obscure the sun's bearns only by a wink. But they would not like to lose his sweetheart's sight even for a wink. That is why he will not shut his eyes to negative its presence.
For his beloved is more wonderful than both the Indias of spices and gold - mines. To him, she is the essence of all the kingdoms together. And to her, he is the substance of all the princes in the world. To each other by love, they make up a universe. There is, for them, nothing outside it. He is the lone prince of that universe of love. All the princes of the world are only is images and reflections.
His sweetheart is a glorious kingdom. Compared to her, even a most esteemable kingdom is an imitation, all wealth is as worthless as yellow brass. He and she make up a world in their bedroom, the duty of the sun is to warm, and revolve round the world. It will be fully discharging its duty if Sun shines only over them and mover round their bedroom.
