ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD
All that glitters is not gold- This well-known maxim occurs in Shakespeare's famous comedy. " THE MERCHANT OF VENICE ". It warns us that all the things which seen as attractive and pleasing are not good and beneficial inwardly. Most of the things of the world have external glamour but inwardly they are fully bankrupt of values.
Very often man is dazzled by beauty and splendour of things but when he comes to know the reality: he feels remorse. Gay and happy faces are not always expressions of happy and innocent hearts.

Hamlet, the immortal character of Shakespeare, rightly says, " A man may smile, and smile, and be a villain. " We find in our lives that appearances are often deceptive. Lady Macbeth, in Shakespeare's play MACBETH, advises her husband, " Look like an innocent flower but be a serpent under it. "
This famous proverb is the experience of the ages. The shining mirage is only an illusion. Most of the new attractive flowers remit bad smell. The shining civilization of the industrial world embodies sin, immorality and immodesty under this garb. When these are unveiled the attractive back of modernity looks as rough as smallpox making the appearance ugly.
Finely dressed and well-decorated beautiful butterflies of society who room in nightclubs, ballrooms and cine world are not as modest and innocent as they look. It has become very difficult to know the refined rough, the civilized villain and the pretentious face. Though it is very common but we must not make it a general statement.
However, the modern world is very complicated. Simple and innocent men are many a time deceived. They take all the things good which appear attractive and fine. But, to do successful in life, it is necessary that we should apply our reason in judging things. We should not be misled by false faces and deceiving men.
Outward glamour and splendour must not blind us to their hollowness. We must be cautious against the mechanical world which is all the time outnumbering things of real worth and value with showy and garish articles.
