Why Study English as a Second Language?
Need of Teaching English as a Second Language:- Education is a process of enlightenment and empowerment by which individuals can secure a quality life. It is a global and multipurpose social service that must reward human resourcefulness, commitment and freedom.
Present-day education is aimed at the growth of body, mind, intellect and soul. Our children are humanity's greatest asset. Hence, a new vision of human greatness must be instilled in them. Modern concepts of education based on the age-old culture should be made part of life.
An accepted fact is that the knowledge must be acquired and supplemented 'by a lifelong relearning and retaining system. This cannot be attained unless the student adapts himself to the exposure of the emerging 'era of knowledge.
The students need to have a channel of communication with other schools, colleges and institutions of higher education. English plays a significant role right from the primary classes. English language as a subject helps a lot right from getting knowledge to cross-cultural communication that helps to bring in the confidence in the child and encourages them to handle complex concepts with ease.
In the era of globalisation and modernization, learning the English language enables in transfer the individuality of a child into a personality. Nobody can deny the Importance of English as a medium of instruction because it plays a key role in the achievement level of students.
